“Awake and Alive” is the heartbeat of Mike Westendorf, a WELS Christian recording artist, worship leader and conference speaker.  Because he believes in the power of Psalm 89:1-2, Mike prays that God would continue to wake us to who we are in Jesus.  Married with three children, Mike is a meteorologist working with college students and the outreach coordinator for The Point of Grace, a Milwaukee campus ministry. He is the director of Awake and Alive, an event for the 18-25 generation in SE Wisconsin.  As a worship leader for his home church in Muskego, Mike has shared the joy of this journey in worship and outreach concerts across the country for the past 10 years.

GETTING THE CONVERSATION STARTED

We will talk about getting the conversation started congregational and personally.  It’s easy to talk about the weather, sports, etc.  But Jesus?  In this workshop we will prepare ourselves for approaching people and broaching the subject of Jesus, the only shelter from life’s storms. We will discuss ideas for getting a conversation started with an unchurched person and turning it into a conversation about Jesus. Studying some of God’s promises will give us the confidence to start spiritual conversations and keep them going.

He craves every moment he can spend with Karen, his bride of 16 years, and longs for every minute of meaningful interaction with each of their five children.

FIND A SAFE PLACE IN THE STORMS OF BUSYNESS AND STRESS

Your job needs excellence. Your church needs a volunteer. Your wife needs a loving and attentive husband.  Kids need someone to hang out with and someone to teach them important life lessons. Can you get it all done without disappointing anyone? Should you be expected to?  And where do your needs fit in? As a man whose time is in high demand, your heart is pulled in many different directions.  But so was the heart of our Lord Jesus. And it’s his heart alone that will help us find peace as we use the time we have to serve the needs of those around us.

The first session (before lunch) will focus on finding our spiritual and emotional safe place in the storms of life. The second session (after lunch) will give practical tips on how to better manage the many responsibilities of life.
